Installing PPF: slip solution or gel — when to use which

The film itself is only half of a clean installation. The other half is the liquid under it: it lets the installer slide and position the film, and then has to get out of the way so the adhesive can bond. KRYTEX offers two tools for this — a concentrated soap and a ready-to-use gel.

Installation soap: the everyday slip solution

KRYTEX PPF SOAP is a pH-neutral concentrate for installing polyurethane, tint and architectural films. Diluted with water at 1:200–1:600, it creates a soap membrane on which the film can be positioned comfortably. A 500 ml bottle is enough for about 15–20 cars, so the cost per job is low. It is the default choice for flat and gently curved panels — roof, doors, hood.

Installation gel: for shapes where soap struggles

KRYTEX PPF GEL is ready to use and needs no dilution. It does not run off vertical surfaces and covers them completely, and the film stays mobile without sticking — useful on bumpers, mirrors and other complex shapes. It works without soapy water or alcohol and enhances adhesive bonding. The gel is colourless, odourless and non-flammable, and its residues wash off easily with water. It can be decanted into any container; professional sprayers are recommended.

Why many installers keep both

Soap is economical for large, simple panels; gel saves time and reduces rework on the parts where film tends to grab too early or the liquid runs off. Having both on the shelf lets the installer choose per panel instead of compromising on the whole car.

Before and after the film

  • Before: wash, decontaminate and wipe the surface with KRYTEX DEGREASER — it evaporates quickly without residue or streaks.
  • After: protect the installed film with KRYTEX PPF & VINYL — two layers no more than 5 minutes apart give a 119° contact angle and 6–8 months of extra protection for the film's top coat.

For film installers and distributors

KRYTEX supplies films (MEGA PPF CLEAN, ULTRA, PRO, MATTE), installation products and the coating for films from one source. Send a request with the volumes you need.
